Overview of Lab Test Results and Humidity Pack Benefits
an in-depth explanation of lab test results conducted by Cannalysis Labs in March 2019. The tests, approved by Swetha Kaul—Chief Scientific Officer at Cannalysis and Vice President of the California Cannabis Industry Association, USA—were designed to assess the impact of our humidity packs on product quality. Using state-of-the-art analytical instruments, the study evaluated both the chemical composition and moisture stability of cannabis products over a three‐month period.
Objectives
Evaluate Product Quality
Determine the effect of humidity packs on the preservation of cannabinoids, mainly THC.
Assess Moisture Retention
Measure how well the humidity packs maintain the optimal moisture balance in the product.
Compare Storage Conditions
Analyze results under both refrigerated and ambient (non-refrigerated) conditions.
Testing Methodology
Sample Preparation and Conditions
The testing protocol involved dividing samples into two primary groups
-
With Humidity Pack: Samples were stored with our proprietary humidity pack.
-
Without Humidity Pack: Control samples were stored without the pack.
Each group was further divided based on storage conditions:
-
Refrigerated Samples: Stored at lower temperatures to simulate controlled storage environments.
-
Ambient Samples: Stored at room temperature to replicate real-world conditions.

Analytical Instruments Utilized
A combination of advanced instruments ensured a robust analysis
-
HPLC-DAD (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography with Diode-Array Detection): Precisely quantified cannabinoid levels, including THC.
-
qPCR (Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction): Assessed microbial stability and overall sample integrity.
-
HS-GC-FID (Headspace Gas Chromatography with Flame Ionization Detection): Evaluated volatile compounds within the samples.
-
Moisture Analyzer: Monitored moisture content over the three‐month period.
Key Findings
THC Retention:
-
Samples stored with the humidity pack consistently demonstrated a 1% higher THC retention compared to those without the pack. This improvement was observed in both refrigerated and ambient conditions.
Moisture Stability: -
The humidity packs were effective in maintaining moisture levels within the target range, reducing the rate of moisture loss. This preservation is critical in mitigating cannabinoid degradation and preserving overall product quality.
Consistency Across Conditions: -
The beneficial effects of the humidity pack were evident regardless of storage conditions. Whether under controlled refrigeration or ambient storage, the pack consistently supported product stability.
Broader Cannabinoid Profile: -
While THC was the primary focus, the analysis also included other cannabinoids. The overall stability of the cannabinoid profile was maintained, suggesting that the humidity pack positively influences the product beyond just THC retention.
Rigorous Analytical Validation: -
The use of multiple advanced instruments confirms the reliability of the findings. The comprehensive testing methodology ensures that the observed improvements are statistically significant and repeatable.
Conclusion
The lab tests clearly demonstrate that our humidity packs contribute to improved product quality.
By effectively maintaining moisture balance and supporting cannabinoid stability, the packs provide a measurable benefit most notably, a consistent 1% increase in THC retention.
These results highlight the potential of the humidity pack as a valuable tool in preserving the integrity of cannabis products, regardless of storage conditions.
-
Manufacturers and Distributors: Can leverage these findings to enhance product shelf-life and quality, ensuring a superior end-user experience.
-
Quality Assurance Teams: May consider integrating humidity packs into their standard storage protocols to maintain product consistency.
-
Consumers: Benefit from a product that retains its potency and overall quality over time, even under varying storage conditions.
